Our Mission is to help dentists learn to help more patients with special needs and particularly to deal with emergency dental situations with patients who have special needs.
By the year 2000, 35 million Americans – more than one in six – will be 65 years of age or older,. In most general dental practices the proportion of older adults is even greater, and the elderly account for a higher percentage of practice income with each passing year. The American Society for Geriatric Dentistry (ASGD) is committed to a mission of improving the oral health of older adults.
These patients need advocacy. We are here to help the patients who get the least exposure to proper dental care.
Some of the things we will cover:
Timely information in the newsletter Interface.
Legislative advocacy particularly for those who have difficulty gaining access to dental care.
Advocacy for support of geriatric dental education.
Opportunities to become actively involved.
